Optimization of basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) production in LED light environments – a review

چکیده
Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) is a popular crop worldwide among farmers; it relatively easy to grow and well adapted hydroponic Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) systems having high profitability margin. Several studies investigated the effect of environmental factors on qualitative quantitative basil: light crucial for development, nutritional properties sensory characteristics. The principles sustainability, resource-effectiveness all encourages farmers use energy-efficient LED sources. These tools easily allow modification spectral distribution intensity; numerous suggestions have been made developing goal-driven recipes maximum cost-effectiveness reducing carbon footprint. Here, results several are summarized providing solid base recipe utilization basil production in terms intensity, duration, distribution. Experimental related impact treatments vegetative parameters, phytonutrient content discussed, optimal ranges parameters summarized. Due increasing number promising specialized research wider application purpose-driven high-tech expected future growing.
